Research Methodology

Research methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study. It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge.

There are various types of research methodology including:

  1. Quantitative research: uses statistical, numerical, and computational methods to analyze data.
  2. Qualitative research: explores the experiences, perspectives, and interpretations of individuals through observation, interviews, and other non-numerical data.
  3. Mixed methods research: combines both qualitative and quantitative research methods to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the research question.
  4. Experimental research: manipulates independent variables to observe the effects on dependent variables.
  5. Non-experimental research: observes relationships between variables without manipulation.

The importance of research methodology in research is that it provides a framework for conducting research in a systematic and objective manner. It helps ensure the reliability and validity of research results and enables researchers to evaluate the quality of existing research studies. A well-designed research methodology can also provide a basis for future research and facilitate the replication of findings.
